GSVM Medical College also known as Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial Medical College is a Public/Govt. Institute located in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. GSVM Kanpur was the first medical college of the U.P. established in independent India. The college was founded by Hon’ble Dr. Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, on April 24, 1956. Late Dr. S.N. Mathur was the first Principal of this college. The Institute is affiliated with Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University (CSJMU), Kanpur, and approved by the Medical Council of India (MCI). The courses offered by the Institute are MBBS, MD, MS, PG Diploma, MCH, DM, and Diploma in Pharmacy. Admission to all the courses is done on the basis of the NEET Entrance Exam where admission to the Diploma programs is done through an Entrance Test conducted by UP State Medical Faculty.

GSVM Kanpur Eligibility Criteria:

  • The students, who have passed the 10+2 examination with science stream and have Physics, Chemistry and Biology and English in 12th stream, may go for the BDS course.
  • Not many entrances are conducted for admission to MBBS. The national level exam NEET is the only exam conducted for admission to BDS courses.
  • NEET is a national level exam conducted for admissions to undergraduate medical courses like MBBS, BDS, BAMS, etc.
  • Excepting, NEET there is no other mode of admission

GSVM Medical College Kanpur Admission Procedure:

  • Admission for 85% seats of GSVM Kanpur are done by the state quota counseling authority
  • And the remaining 15% seats are filled by MCC Medical Counselling Committee 
  • Seats will be allotted to the candidates on the basis of rank scored and the choices of their preference. 
  • The candidates are advised to report to the allotted institution with a seat allotment letter before the last date of admission. The seats will be considered as confirmed only after the successful payment of the admission fee.

Facilities:

  1. Central Library: It has a large collection of textbooks and reference books and subscribes to a large number of National and International journals. The library also has a textbook bank for poor students. The library opens for thirteen hours every working day between 9:00 am to 10:00 pm. It is air-conditioned and equipped with an internet facility.
  2. Auditorium:  It is one of the biggest in Kanpur and has a capacity of 673 seats along with a huge stage and facility for screening films. It is now under renovation.
  3. Lecture Theatres 1 and 3: The theatres are big enough to accommodate about 300 students each. They have been made fully air-conditioned, soundproof, equipped with audiovisual aids, and provided with a power backup.
  4. Gardens: Our institution has a lush green Eco-friendly campus with big trees and well-spread gardens all over. Besides plenty of seasonal flowers, our Rose Garden is best in Kanpur having more than 150 varieties.
